Horse Feathers – Vernonia Blues

Vernonia Blues

I discovered Horse Feathers through their album Falling Through The Roof, I think through a Pandora or Spotify playlist. Little did I know that the band got it’s start just an hour north of me in Portland.

They have a really bluesy, folk sound… but not exactly the gentle folk that a lot of us are accustomed to. Even when the music gets quiet and thoughtful, the combination of Justin Ringle’s vocals and the rocky, gritty instrumentals make Horse Feathers sound like something you would listen to in a smokey Oregon tavern during the gold rush, or during a boxing ring romp at an old warehouse in Galway.

Drinkify suggests…

“THE HORSE FEATHERS”

  • 8 oz. Microbrew
  • 8 oz. Bitters
  • 1 oz. Vodka

Combine in shaker and strain into cocktail glass. Serve. Garnish with pickled carrot sticks.

I concur.
